I love smoothies because they’re easy, convenient, and delicious! I have a smoothie every morning for breakfast, and sometimes I’ll have one in the afternoon for a snack. You can get creative and pack in a bunch of nutrients by adding fruit, veggies, nut milk, protein powder, nut butters, and so much more!

Below is a banana berry smoothie that I love to make for an afternoon snack. It totally re-energizes me, satisfies my hunger, and just makes me happy. I use blueberries and bananas to give it a naturally sweet taste with a creamy texture. Plus, it’s packed with beneficial nutrients for my body.

Blueberries are such a powerful fruit. They are an incredibly high source of antioxidants, which can help combat free radical damage. Blueberries are also low on the Glycemic Index, which means that they won’t spike our blood sugar levels. This makes blueberries an ideal fruit choice for Type 2 Diabetics.

Bananas also provide the body with a ton of nutrients. They are one of the best sources of potassium, an essential mineral for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function. Bananas also help with digestion, bone health and kidney health.

Banana Berry Smoothie


½ banana
½ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
½ cup water
Vanilla protein powder


Combine all ingredients in a blender. Mix and enjoy!!!
